TERM 1 WEEK 9 MARCH 28th 2018 OUR LADY OF GRACE NEWSLETTER PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE This last two weeks I have been spending time (on duty) down at the oval and park. I am generally the last in line as I have the honor of chasing up those late students to take them down to the park. I am very happy to say that the only one I have had to chase up, is myself. The students amaze me with their resilience; our building projects, their tolerance; dealing with the younger students who just want to be noticed, their ability to turn take and share; using the flying fox and the like. I suppose I shouldn't be amazed. We set expectations high, which we know will be fulfilled. We ask them to be responsible for their learning, their behavior and their attitude. I expect my Kindy students to bring in their own lunch and drink bottle and pack it away in their locker. Their look of pride and achievement is the beginning of their sense of self and their learning journey. The more WE DO FOR our children, the more we reinforce the concept and belief that we do not think them capable or responsible. Allow your children to develop their sense of achievement and pride in their accomplishments by allowing them to do things for themselves. For a parent, it is one of the most difficult things to do! We wish you a very Happy Easter! Teresa Wandek Please contact Peta Taylor on 0419 260832 if you can help out with volunteering. With just over a week to go, don’t forget to encourage your kids to seek support from their grandparents, uncles, aunties and neighbourhood friends in our efforts to raise valuable funds needed to build a stronger OLG community and enhance our kids school facilities.
This event will allow us all to bring our kids and OLG families closer together so we encourage all of you to come along and welcome our new families to OLG, enjoy OLG’s new playground and have fun together. Don’t forget to BYO food, drinks and a picnic rug.

Thanks to everyone that has volunteered so far, however we do need some more volunteers. If you can help out on Friday 6th April from 1.15pm please put your name down in the office or contact Linda D’Vaz on 0411125787. You don’t need to walk, just stamp cards as the kids come past and siblings are welcome. “OLG Run for Fun” is a free running club where kids of all ages and fitness levels can come together before school to run and exercise in a positive and supportive environment. Parents and grandparents are encouraged to run with the kids and have fun. We all know running is a great way to get fit, but it offers so much more. Kids who exercise in the morning are generally more engaged and focused during lesson time. Running clubs enable kids to build friendships and have fun. Running builds healthy hearts and minds and brings joy to children. OLG Run for Fun is run by volunteer parents each Tuesday and Thursday morning during school terms and has now commenced. The more parents, the more fun! OLG Run for Fun will include some warm up activities and games and there will be a couple of running courses, of different lengths, around Charles Riley Reserve to suit different ages and fitness levels. There will be no free breakfast or awards - it’s just for fun. As the club is run by volunteer parents, students in Year 3 or below must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to ensure adequate supervision. A permission slip for all students must be completed before your child can participate. Permission slips will be available for signing at the first session your child chooses to attend. Days: Every Tuesday and Thursday morning The body achieves what the mind believes. Student Authorisation form - click here
