Meet your new Grandwood Park Civic Association BoardAt the November 1st Civic Association Meeting an election was held for the 3 open positions of Vice President, Treasurer, and Sergeant-At-Arms. Meet your new board: Lance Moffett - President We would like to thank our outgoing members; Linda Kippes for her many years as Treasurer, and Diane LeClair for serving as Vice President. Board member terms are 2 years, and next year the terms of the President and Secretary will expire. Consider coming to a meeting to see what we're about (our community) and join up as members of the Civic Association if you haven't already done so. Your memberships help support the events hosted by the Civic Association, and only current members are eligible to vote in the elections. We are always looking for volunteers for the events we host and would not be able to do what we do without all of you!
The GPCA Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser was held on Friday, September 15th. Thanks to the many volunteers that helped with set-up, serving, baking of desserts, and clean-up, we were able to provide 95 sit down dinners with 28 carry out dinners. There was spaghetti with sauce, meatballs, salad with Saluto's delicious dressing, and rolls & butter. My oh my, don't think anyone left hungry. Thank you all for attending to support us!!
Oktoberfest 2017 has come and gone.Even though we started out with a bit of rain, it did finally fade away and the festivities kicked into full gear with some children's games, face painting, and a live Polka band. Volunteers from the Future Business Leaders of America from Warren Township High School, as well as two Girl Scout troops and their parents, helped run the games for the kids and did a nice job of keeping order and ensuring a good time for the players. The hay ride made it's annual appearance and was enjoyed by many. One mainstay that never changes is the bonfire which is always so much fun...who doesn't love fire??? Let's not forget the terrific food that came from the kitchen; schnitzel with gravy, brats, hamburgers, hot dogs, pretzels, fries and desserts, in addition to soda pop, hot cocoa, hot cider, and adult beverages. There was a special Military Recognition Ceremony to thank all our active and retired Service Personnel with a special Veteran raffle courtesy of Sambrano Funeral and Cremation; winners were resident Betzel Smith, and our security officer, Ryan Egar. Enjoy your gift cards, gentlemen! The 50/50 raffle was won by Mike Cassidy, who generously donated his share back to the Civic Association. Once again the fireworks were provided by the Mad Bomber - another excellent display!! Many thanks to our sponsors (listed below) and the Grandwood Park Park District for their support. Without the help and support from all our volunteers and families we would not have been able to have such a successful event. Thank you all from the Best Kept Secret in Lake County. Thank you to our Sponsors!Abt Electronics - Glenview
