MEDIA RELEASE

RESEARCH GOT TALENT AWARD 2021

ENTRIES NOW OPEN

Entries for the 2021 Research Got Talent Award competition have officially opened.

Now in its second year, the competition is an initiative of the Association of Market and Social Research Organisations (AMSRO) and the global ESOMAR Foundation and encourages young professionals to use market research and insights to support local charities and NGOs overcome pressing social issues.

The research aims to assist change in a range of areas including gender inequality, access to justice and education, integration and diversity, environmental issues, and climate change.

The competition is open to young research professionals aged 18-35, who are AMSRO member organisation employees or work for an ESOMAR Australian-based member (individual or corporate). Entrants can work individually or in a pair.  The Australian winner is automatically entered into ESOMAR’s global competition, giving them a unique opportunity to present their work to an international audience at the ESOMAR Congress, to be held in September 2021.

Stephanie Perry from Ipsos, the inaugural winner of the 2020 Research Got Talent competition for her entry – Reaching out to elderly Australians for spur:org, said: “It was a privilege to work with spur:org and participants from across Australia to bring this important issue into focus. The experience has been a highlight in my reasonably short career in market research and reinforces that this is my industry, and these are my people. I can’t wait to learn more, experience more and enjoy more in my career as a social and market researcher. This project has made me a more effective researcher and a more conscientious global citizen – ready for the next challenge.”

Kylie Brosnan, Director at Ipsos Australia, said: “What a fantastic initiative to foster stronger relationships between our industry and not-for-profits who are working so hard to make a difference to our world. This competition enables young Australian researchers to not only showcase their skills in the global marketplace but importantly be inspired to strive for excellence when working on a cause they are passionate about.  It has been a pleasure to see Steph’s growth and development as she delivered an insightful and timely research project for RGT and spur:org.”

The Research Got Talent Award competition is a great avenue for young researchers who want to make a difference.  The judges are looking for projects that are innovative, address a prominent social issue and have the potential to make changes to the charity they support.  AMSRO and ESOMAR call upon all members to support this competition and to celebrate their employees and company on the national and global stage.

Entries open today and close at 5.00 pm on 29 March 2021.

A Research Got Talent entrant briefing will be held (via Zoom) on Tuesday 16 February 2021 – to register please email: jennifer@amsro.com.au
