Dear Friends,
Summer certainly isn’t what it used to be when we were kids. Long gone for many of us are lazy days sitting by a pool or a lake without the responsibilities of the world (either global or local) to worry about. I look back with warm memories of summers in a bunk in the Pocono Mountains as my friends and I speculated what our futures would look like one day.
It was beyond my imagination to conceive that those very same people I once shared a bunk with are
still my friends, and now we’ve all got weighty responsibilities—as parents, running agencies, being religious leaders, heading up corporations, or inventing medicine to cure diseases. I am fortunate enough to have stolen a few days this summer with that group, to laugh about the past with our feet in the water, cooling off on a hot summer day.
The summer of 2019 hasn’t been quite as laid back as the summer of 1990 for me or our team here at BCAC—we’ve spent a great deal of time doing more than dreaming about the future. This summer finds our team on “the other side” of integration into LifeBridge Health, with new systems and infrastructure coming online to help make our program (and your support) more efficient—so we can focus less on administration and more on mission.
The coming months will find our team making new connections and new partnerships among the 13,000 employees within LifeBridge Health who Care Bravely each day in order to build healthier tomorrows. These last few weeks have involved an intense series of meetings which will reshape how BCAC does what it does so well and use those skills to help even more adults and children to again find hope.
For over 30 years, BCAC has redefined and reshaped how victims of child abuse and maltreatment receive care. Over the coming months, I expect to share these plans with all of you and I look forward to your feedback and, of course, your continued partnership in our journey over the next 30 years. Stay tuned.
