The PowerHealth Team PowerHealth NewsCosting During COVID-19 - Q&A Session with PHS Costing ExpertThis month we extended an invitation to our community to attend our information session on Costing during the COVID-19 crisis. Led by Garth Barnett, the session focussed on helping costing teams meet their costing obligations in relation to costing for COVID-19. The session also included information from the Independent Hospital Pricing Authority (IHPA) around the Australian classification and coding rules for COVID-19, and how this information relates to PowerPerformance Manager (PPM). Plus, importantly, the session provides the answers to all the costing questions we received from our costing community. If you missed our session, we welcome you to view the 25-minute presentation and listen at your convenience. The recorded session is available HERE. If you want to make sure you don’t miss future information sessions, please follow us on LinkedIn . Welcome to the PowerHealth CommunityPowerHealth is excited to extend our relationships within New Zealand and welcomes Nelson Marlborough and West Coast District Health Boards to our PPM community. We are also excited to strengthen our relationship at home with one of Australia’s leading private healthcare providers, Healthscope, who are implementing PPM nationally. PPM Case Study: Bairnsdale Regional Health ServiceEmpowerment, confidence and longevity in relationships remain a PowerHealth focus to add value to the client support process. These features have been core to our relationship with Bairnsdale Regional Health Service. Based on addressing the pain points being experienced, the Bairnsdale and PowerHealth team implemented PPM and a number of initiatives to support users, building confidence and efficiency around the VCDC submission process and ongoing costing function. READ MORE >>> Quebec’s Costing Data Analysis Platform DevelopmentIn Quebec, Canada, with over 1,300 interfaces into PPM, PowerSanté’s Performance team has leveraged all this data to develop a Performance Analysis Platform powered by Qlik Sense that is directly connected onto PPM. This platform includes a series of dynamic dashboards allowing users to analyse trajectories of care’s performance and their related cost, and encompasses different analysis approaches – comparative, scalable, and outliers, accidents or complications-based. These approaches allow users to quickly identify DRGs with poor performance, explain cost variance between encounters and encounter groups classified within the same DRG, and put a cost on “non-quality”. In the coming months this tool is being deployed across a number of Quebec sites so that the feedback from potential hospital users can be incorporated into the final solution. Contactless PaymentContactless payment has become even more relevant in the current COVID-19 environment so just a note to let you know that PBRC supports EFTPOS Integration if this is something you are considering at this time.

Adapting to the Changing EnvironmentWhilst COVID-19 travel restrictions have meant we have been unable able to conduct onsite engagements, our teams have adapted well and taken to an online delivery model to allow our education programs to continue. The PBRC implementation workshops are continuing through online platforms, with key client staff connecting from rural sites and from home. We also completed online Mirth training at SA Health and our PPM team completed an online multi-day training event for The Alfred Hospital. Within our office we are also adapting to the current and changing environment. Where appropriate we have worked from home, connecting daily with our teams via online tools. Now back in the office, we are ensuring social distancing restrictions are met, with the Parklands (located across the road) and our foyer providing great spaces for team meetings, as demonstrated here by our Testing team. As the environment continues to change, the future is not what we thought it would be only a few short months ago.
