In addition to his work with our Artful Dodgers Studios and Just Voices Speakers Program, where he mentors young people and supports them to share their stories publicly, Paulie has worked with the Alma Nuns in Timor Leste for the past decade. “The Nuns are the real heroes as they know what ‘real power’ and `real glory’ is. They specialise in tending to disabled and abandoned children who they consider as `gifts’. They don’t turn away anyone and they rise at 4.30 am each day to look after the now thousands of children in their care,” he says. Paulie also regularly tours the country with the Painters and Dockers, the Melbourne band he co-founded in 1982. The aim of this first workshop, attended by over 60 was to start to build cross-sector networks for collective advocacy and practical responses to the challenges that climate changes is presenting for communities in the NT. The working group that organised the day has since expanded and is currently planning a follow-up workshop in Alice Springs on 5 and 6 March 2020. Building on the themes of the first workshop, the Alice Springs event will bring people together to share lived experience and technical and policy expertise to generate just solutions to the climate challenges facing Territory communities. ![]() Matt Tyler, Executive Director of The Men’s Project, recently spoke to ABC Radio Melbourne’s Virginia Trioli about how gender inequality is bad both women and men.
