Honors in the Major
Dec. 13
Per COS Dean Michael Johnson’s goal to have 600 students enrolled in Honors in the Major, NSC has proposed a pilot program to enroll 25 students by 2017-18. As an incentive, faculty will receive one course release for every nine students advised. Please submit your Honors in the Major research/creative topics to Kim Tuorto by Dec. 13.
Research Database -Communication Institute for Online Scholarship
NSC Faculty and Staff now have the ability to conduct research through The Communication Institute for Online Scholarship, which is a U.S. Federal Tax Code 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization supporting the use of computer technologies in the service of communication scholarship and education. CIOS offers access to Communication Abstracts, and Electronic Journal of Communication and the Visual Communication Concept Explorer. #^To access content, all you need to do is visit the CIOS website from a UCF networked computer.
Research Incentive Award – Program Commencement
The Office of Faculty Excellence is pleased to announce the commencement of the 2016-2017 Research Incentive Award (RIA) program. The process will be electronic this year, and will be similar to that for promotion and tenure. If you are interested in applying, please contact your Dean’s Office immediately. The deadline to apply is December 15. Encourage Students to Apply to an NSC Scholarship
NSC students can qualify for up to 20 scholarships found on the College of Sciences website. Scholarships will be awarded at the end of the Spring semester and applications are open from Jan. 1 - Mar. 31, 2017. Please encourage students to apply at www.sciences.ucf.edu/scholarships.

Public Administration Research Conference (PARC)
Call for Submissions
The Center for Public and Nonprofit Management (CPNM) at the University of Central Florida’s School of Public Administration will host its 11th annual Public Administration Research Conference (PARC). This conference calls for presentations from scholars and practitioners alike, that examine how to prepare public and nonprofit managers to engage in inter-organizational collaboration and manage in a networked world. The deadline for submission is Dec. 15, 2016. Please submit your research proposal to cpnm@ucf.edu. Student Perception of Instruction
The Student Perception of Instruction survey is now available for students to take. Students must access the survey online through the my UCF student self service portal. The student perception of instruction form is administered during the last fifteen days of the class or until 7 am on the day that the final exam period begins. The SPI is intended for students to provide constructive and thoughtful responses to the survey questions. Please advise your students that the online evaluation information is confidential and anonymous and that results will not be available to you until AFTER grades are posted. Please encourage your students to take this survey to provide the school with valuable and timely feedback.
