And we’re off...2025 is here in all its glory!

None of us know exactly what’s in store, but if you’re like me, you’re starting the year with a heart full of hopes and great expectations.

So, here’s to a brand-new year. May it bring you hope, happiness, and plenty of wonderful happenings.

Great Expectations!

When we approach or start something new, it often comes with a mix of excitement and uncertainty. It can feel like the beginning of something wonderful, or it can trigger the fear of the unknown.

Either way, we have a choice:
To embrace whatever comes with an open heart and open arms, or
To worry about what might go wrong.

Research shows that our expectations shape our experiences.

When we approach situations with optimism and openness, we’re more likely to notice opportunities, adapt to challenges, and find positive outcomes. Psychologists call this the 'self-fulfilling prophecy'.

Our mindset can directly influence how events unfold.

Charles Dickens’ 'Great Expectations' beautifully captures the theme of transformation and the power of hope.

As Dickens wrote: “That was a memorable day to me, for it made great changes in me. But, it is the same with any life. Imagine one selected day struck out of it, and think how different its course would have been”.

Here’s a fact: Great Expectations was originally published as a serialised story between 1860 and 1861. Its themes of ambition, growth, and overcoming challenges remain timeless and remind us that every new step has the potential to shape our lives in profound ways.

So, as you step into something new, be it a project, a relationship, or a fresh year, choose curiosity over fear and hope over doubt.

Great expectations don’t guarantee perfect outcomes, but they do set the stage for growth, learning, and joy.

Interesting Fact About Charles Dickens: Charles Dickens was an avid walker, often covering 10 to 20 miles a day. These walks helped him develop ideas for his stories and observe the people and places that inspired his characters. He once said, “If I could not walk far and fast, I think I should just explode and perish”.

Meee With Sid Madge...

This month, on our latest Just Meee podcast, we thought we'd let our very own Sid Madge bring in the New Year with some thoughts, revelations, and inspirations.

Do sweat the small stuff! It matters.

Counting today, there are 365 days, 8,760 hours, and 525,600 minutes in 2025. That’s a lot of opportunities to make a difference, no matter how small.

One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned from my children is that it’s not always the big moments they remember, it’s the small ones.

The laughs over silly jokes, bedtime stories shared after a long day, and spontaneous hugs. It’s those little moments that build connection, meaning, and joy.

As Mother Teresa said, “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love”.

It’s often the small, intentional acts of kindness and care that ripple out to create a big impact.

A fact to inspire us for the year ahead: Did you know that Steve Jobs, despite his immense success and global influence, once shared that one of his most meaningful achievements was helping his kids with their homework and spending quality time with them? It’s a reminder that the small stuff matters far more than we often realise.

So, as we step into this brand-new year, let’s cherish the small moments, focus on what truly matters, and make 2025 a year of connection, meaning, and joy.

Be Here, Be Present...

In Chapter 51 of Meee In A Minute, titled BE HERE, BE PRESENT, Sid reminds us of a simple but powerful truth: the past is just that, the past. It’s gone, and we can’t change it.

The only moment we truly have is this one, right here, right now. Tune in to where you are. Be with the people you’re with. Enjoy what you’re doing. The clue is in the word “joy”. Perhaps it should really be “Injoy”, because being “in” the moment is where joy lives.

Take a minute™️ to reflect on your life. How much time do you spend dwelling on the past or worrying about the future? Does that focus bring you happiness or take it away?

We can only live moment by moment. So, stay present, focus on what’s happening now, and make each moment as meaningful and joyful as you can.

Make the most of this moment, it’s all we ever truly have. x

Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish...

We so often, sadly, live in reverse.

One of my great heroes is Steve Jobs, whose 2005 Stanford University commencement speech remains as fresh and relevant today as ever.

Jobs emphasised the importance of finding what you love and doing what you believe is great work.

He said, “You've got to find what you love. And that is as true for work as it is for your lovers”.

He also spoke about the power of perspective: “Remembering that I'll be dead soon is the most important tool I've ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life”.

Jobs believed that this mindset helps us avoid the trap of thinking we have something to lose.

Despite being fired from Apple at age 30, Jobs chose to start over because he still loved what he did: “The turn of events at Apple had not changed that one bit”.

Jobs concluded with a lesson from 'The Whole Earth Catalog', which ended its final issue with the farewell message, 'Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish'.  Jobs passed that wish on to the graduates, and to all of us: “I have always wished that for myself. And now, as you graduate to begin anew, I wish that for you”.

A great fact about Steve Jobs: Despite his incredible success, Jobs once revealed that he never learned to code. Instead, he focused on vision, creativity, and building a team to bring his ideas to life. A true reminder that you don’t have to know everything, you just need passion, clarity, and the right people around you.

So, as we step into this new year, take inspiration from Jobs. Do what you love, embrace the unknown, and stay hungry, stay foolish.
