Routine Clitoral Exams Needed, Study Says

Clitoral examinations should be routine for women with sexual dysfunctions, scientists report.

Their study, recently published in Sexual Medicine, focused on 140 women with clitoral adhesions, in which the clitoral hood adheres to the glans, making retraction difficult.

The researchers analyzed vulvoscopy photographs, blood test results, and questionnaire responses for the women, who had all sought help for sexual problems.

Questionnaire results showed that pain was a bigger concern for the women compared to other domains like desire, arousal, lubrication, and orgasm. But only 14% came to the clinic specifically for clitoral pain.

It's possible that the women had just accepted the pain or thought that nothing could be done about it.
