Academic Leadership - change decision

Kia ora koutou

Today I met with our HoPPs and Deans to share the outcome from our Academic Leadership change proposal.

In September we shared a proposal for a new academic leadership structure and asked for your feedback and input. This is a hugely important piece of work and I’m very happy to say we received an enormous amount of valuable and insightful feedback from across the organisation, which has been pivotal in shaping the outcome.

I want to acknowledge and thank our HoPPs and Deans who have been working tirelessly in support of our Renewal Plan process and supporting their own teams, despite having known since July that their own roles would potentially be disestablished and the leadership structure changed.

The new Academic Leadership model will create 11 Schools, each led by a Head of School and supported by a number of Programme Manager/Leaders plus administrative support still to be finalised.

While the structure is now confirmed, there is still considerable detail being worked through in response to your feedback and our ongoing engagement with academic and support staff – we need to get this right. We expect to confirm more by 19 October 2018 and I will continue to update you as further details are finalised.

The full change decision document and timeline can be viewed here and on the Nest Renewal Plan page.
