There's lots starting to happen again in Frankston City with the easing of restrictions.   Think innovative outdoor dining, live entertainment, holiday programs, exhibitions and new attractions.  The City never looked so alive.  So we've put together a snapshot of what’s hot, new and coming soon to help you plan your summer calendar of fun.   Don't forget to read all the way to the end for competition news!

 

We've been inside of most of the year and now its time to get back out and about.  As part of the extended outdoor dining program, Frankston City has launched a campaign to encourage locals and visitors to reconnect with their community, rediscover their backyard and support local business.   Whether you want to nibble, sip, play, stomp or chill you can Do It Outdoors in Frankston City.  Check out the weekly free live entertainment program.  #doitoutdoors

We are open!

The Frankston Visitor Information Centre, located on the foreshore promenade, has re-opened and is welcoming locals and locals back with great delight.    Come down and see our friendly staff  and volunteers for great ideas on (re)discovering Frankston City these school holidays, or browse our merchandise range to pick up a gift or holiday memento.

Opening hours are Wednesday – Sunday, 10am to 4pm.

Outings with pooches

Our beloved four-legged friends love a day out just as much as we do. At Frankston City dogs are welcome at many locations and attractions (some conditions apply).  Find out where you can wine and dine  your pooch and places they can play to ensure they are part of your summer fun.

School holiday fun 

Keep the kids active and happy these holidays.  There's plenty to do whether it's making the most of those summer days at a local playground, going for a walk in a local nature reserve, devouring treats from a local cafe or restaurant, discovering an outdoor attraction or joining an organised holiday program. Sip and make with mates    

Discover some of the best tap houses, breweries and distillers south of Melbourne.  From the award winning  Dainton Brewery in Carrum Downs, to Seaford based gems Biersal Brewery and Beerhall, Mr Banks Brewing and That Spirited Lot, to newly opened The Hop Shop and local favourite The Cheeky Squire in Frankston's CBD, there's a surprising range of very cool options for everyone person and his dog to enjoy.    Get your gang together and enjoy great food and good times.  Tours and craft-your-own beer or spirit activities are also available at selected venues.

Step out to street art

Move over Melbourne, there’s a new street art hot spot in town.  Murals by local and international artists bring  buildings and lane-ways to life making Frankston CBD’s urban culture a unique attraction in itself.  Guided street art tours have recommenced (bookings essential) or you can go for a wander and discover the larger than life murals and street art for yourself.  Tip:  New twilight tours now available.

Find your live music groove

If live outdoor music is your jam then we’re strumming to the beat of your heart this summer.  As part of the extended outdoor dining program, there's live music at outdoor dining venues across Frankston City throughout January.   Check out the program, book a table and enjoy the free entertainment while you dine.  TIP: Keep an eye out for roving entertainers in the CBD streets!

Ignite your competitive spirit

New local business Leading The Chase  is inviting participants to solve clues and complete tasks while walking or driving around a secret course in the Frankston area.  This one-of-a-kind activity promises to spark joy and unveil a competitive spirit that will strengthen relationships, all while you discover some hidden gems in the community.  Two Chase courses are available and suitable for every age and ability, with custom Chases available upon request.  Activities run Friday evenings (5:30pm start), Saturdays and Sundays (10am or 2pm start).  Fees apply - bookings essential.

A day at the beach

It wouldn't be summer without a day at the beach.  The bay coastline from Frankston to Seaford is ideal for water play, including all types of powered and non-powered watercraft.   Build a sandcastle with friends, promenade along the piers and boardwalks, hire a boat, or drop in a fishing line.  Swim or snorkel the shoreline; check the local life saving beach patrols @ Frankston and Seaford.   Or simply take in one of Melbourne’s most remarkable views from the renowned Oliver’s Hill offering uninterrupted scenery across Port Phillip to Melbourne City and the distant You Yangs.

General Public dials up the fun

Frankston City is about to get even more entertaining with the arrival of General Public Melbourne.  Together with Rebel Donuts and Lavezzi Gelateria, the trio will be opening in Playne Street in the coming weeks.   There'll be two levels of non stop entertainment; 9 tenpin bowling lanes, all your favourite retro arcade and pinball games, pool tables, shuffle boards, an indoor slide and more.  Stay tuned for more info….

Oliver’s Corner at the Frankston Yacht Club

Sunday sippers are set to delight with a new beach bar and café to be located on the ground floor of the Frankston Yacht club.  Floor to ceiling windows will provide the perfect backdrop for sipping local wines and beers, or enjoying delicious casual breakfasts or afternoon street food bites.  Also a great drop in for coffee while strolling the promenade boardwalk.  Stay tuned for more news on the opening....
