Outsider Art Under Attack at Art Institute of Chicago

Outsider Art designated as “Degenerate Art”, Berlin, 1937

Raw Vision editorial contributor Michael Bonesteel has been forced to resign his teaching post at the Art Institute of Chicago Art School. Presenting a theory on Darger’s hermaphroditic figures during one of his lectures was deemed non-pc. Outsider Art will no longer be a teaching module and now must be taught only as a comparison to contemporary art. Furthermore specialist texts on Outsider Art are now banned and replaced with texts from theoretical art history journals that rarely cover Outsider Art. Bonesteel’s other course on the history of comic imagery has also been banned on the same basis that images were not pc.
