Join in Tondoon Gardens' 25th birthday celebrations

Gladstone Tondoon Botanic Gardens will host its 25th birthday celebrations from October 1 to 6.

There are plenty of activities planned including a Family Movie Night on Friday, October 4, a Family Fun Day on Sunday, October 6 and attendance by special guests ABC Gardening's Costa Georgiadis and Melbourne Royal Botanic Gardens' Professor Tim Entwisle.

Nominate for landmark leadership program

Local businesses have until September 30 to nominate a leader for a place in Gladstone Regional Council's inaugural leadership development program.

"The Challenge of Leadership" program is a joint initiative of Council and Leadership Management Australasia (LMA) and is open to a total of 20 participants, including one fully funded placement for a non-Council employee living and working in the Gladstone Region and four Council placements.

The program will commence on October 10 and run for 11 months.

Larc-tastic effort to clean rubbish from beaches

Volunteers collecting rubbish on beach

Volunteers joined Council and 1770 Larc Tours staff in collecting 65 bags of rubbish from the area between Eurimbula and Bustard Head, north of Seventeen Seventy, at the inaugural Larc-tastic Beach Clean Up event on Sunday, September 22.

Participants also retrieved three tyres, a trawler net, and scrap wood from the area. Read more...
