Most Transgender Men Satisfied With Penile Implants

One of the more complicated aspects of male-to-female gender affirmation surgery is the creation of a realistic, functioning penis. Sometimes, it's difficult for transgender men to get an erection rigid enough for sex.

However, inflatable penile implants are a viable option, and new research finds that transmen who have them are quite satisfied with the results.

In a recent BJU International study, 88% of 104 patients said they were satisfied with their implants. Over half of their partners were also satisfied.

PTSD, Intimate Partner Violence Linked to Sexual Problems in Midlife Women

Middle-aged women could be more likely to develop sexual problems if they have posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and a history of personal violence, scientists say.

In a study of over 2,000 women, researchers found that vaginal pain during intercourse, vaginal irritation, and vaginal soreness were common in women with PTSD.  Intimate partner violence was also linked to sexual problems.

The findings were presented at the annual meeting of the North American Menopause Society last fall. Click here for more details.
