Latest Update...
Week commencing 16th December 19 to week commencing 6th January 20.
Excavation Works
The reduced level dig is completed and concrete is now being poured to create the foundations of the building.
Steel Work Installation
The next phase of the project is to construct the steel frame of the building, which will commence on Monday 13th January for approximately 7 weeks.
Delivery of the steel will be co-ordinated throughout the above period with the first delivery scheduled ahead of this, w/c 6th January. Deliveries are not expected to cause disruption.
To construct the steel frame, a mobile crane will be situated on Library Avenue, within the existing site compound. The crane is expected on site from the 13th January and should not cause disruption.
During the installation, a number of holes will be drilled in to the exposed concrete wall of the Library. Though this work will be carried out externally, some noise disruption is expected internally to the Library. This will be monitored closely and controled locally should works become too disruptive. Noisy works are not permitted after 11am as per previous arrangements.
The site plan contains details of the phased build of the steel works and can be found online.
Please note that a time-lapse camera is in operation on Library Avenue. The camera takes still photography and does not provide a live feed. The footage is downloaded periodically by the Facilities Marketing & Communications team and is used for marketing and communication purposes.
