Resources for Students in Need

With the changing seasons and the holidays approaching, food insecurity can become a greater concern for some in our community. Community members will find on-campus and off-campus resources on this webpage.

Reminder: Pitt Pantry Offering Critical Resources

Pitt affiliates impacted by the recent disruption in SNAP benefit disbursements are encouraged to utilize available campus and community resources, including the Pitt Pantry and the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. The Pitt Pantry will continue operating on its regular fall semester schedule and is closely monitoring inventory in anticipation of increased demand. All students (graduate and undergraduate), faculty, and staff are welcome to visit the Pantry to supplement their nutrition with healthy, no-cost food options.
Additionally, students are encouraged to contact the Care and Resource Support Office for assistance in accessing additional resources. This office is dedicated to addressing a wide range of student needs and connecting students with appropriate support services.

POST-GRADUATE OPPORTUNITIES

Maggie's Place, AmeriCorps

We are looking primarily for full time live-in AmeriCorps members with live-out positions available on a case-by-case basis.

Due to the live-in nature of the work, this is a female-only position.

AmeriCorps members spend a year or summer living with pregnant and parenting women formerly experiencing homelessness who are now housed in a loving, caring environment at Maggie’s Place in Phoenix, Arizona.

Using a trauma-informed care approach, AmeriCorps members are on the front lines of the fight to overcome Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and break the relentless cycle of poverty. AmeriCorps members live and work in one of our five Maggie’s Place homes, managing the day-to-day needs of the house and fostering a safe and welcoming home environment.
