Nick Pty Ltd.
Name and position?
Nick Pritchard, Owner and Creative Strategist
Tell us about your business/organisation?
Nick (the business – not me!) is a full service creative agency located in Woolloongabba. That means we make all sorts of creative ads and communications for our clients, from trade display stands and newsletters for staff, to major brand campaigns and TV ads. Plus everything in between.
What is your role at your organisation?
I am the owner and creative director here at Nick.
What are your key skills and responsibilities?
I drive our clients’ brand direction, working on creative strategy and communications. Our business is all about providing creative solutions, but it’s also about looking after people, responding quickly to the needs of the our clients and connecting to their audience – whether that is external or internal.
How many people work at your business?
There are currently 14 people employed at Nick.
What is your favourite place in the precinct?
Woolloongabba Antiques is a wonderous cavern of curios!
What do you want BSB members to know about you or your business?
Not all people in advertising are wankers.
What is something people wouldn’t know about your business?
Working in Brisbane for most of my career has allowed me to surround myself with a lot of great people. All of my clients and the people I work with have become long time friends and collaborators – and with such a great network we are proud to declare ourselves a no-pitch agency. Sure, we love to do creative presentations for new clients and participate in their tendering processes, but most of our business is by word-of-mouth. It’s great to know that we are the agency that is recommended time and time again.
What has recently happened at your organisation?
Where do I start? Just a few of our recent projects have included:
• Rolling out a national brand look and feel for Aurizon.
• Creating a brand campaign for this year’s Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers.
• Designing a 2016 calendar for Queensland Ballet.
• Putting together a VIP marquee for Suncorp at Stradbroke Day.
• Winning a prestigious international Gold Quill award AND a National Print award for a Suncorp campaign.
What have you learnt lately?
The calories don’t count if you close your eyes when you are eating donuts.
What do you hope to achieve in your industry?
My goal has always been to create what I like to call Work Utopia and maintain a reputation as the nicest guy in town.
What inspires you?
The people around me, art, and bugs – little bugs, big bugs, stink bugs…
What are your words of wisdom?
People in glass houses need a good squeegee.
