We have witnessed the growth of this new service first hand and are confident that Box has found a home here at our University! The user statistics so far are impressive:

• Almost 3500 users
• Storage used: 8.06 TB
• Total files uploaded: 4.5 M (yes, million!)

… and really emphasise the potential scale of Box at UoD!

Needless to say, as the number of collaboration invites increases and evermore societies choose to adopt Box, coupled with our progressing corporate roll out to schools, departments and directorates, these statistics won't stay the same for long!

Our Box transition team travelled to London on Wednesday 6th May to attend the Box World Tour event and put the University of Dundee in the spotlight!

UoD IT’s very own Director, Paul Saunders, joined a panel of keynote speakers to discuss Box deployment at our institution and showcase our launch success story.

Launching Box to individual users just wasn't enough for us…
The potential to integrate this new service into the underlying practices of our University was an opportunity too good to miss!

Delivering corporate Box use to schools and departments is our next key objective and the UoD IT Box transition and Business Transformation teams continue to keep up the pace.

Initial liaison sessions have already taken place and you all seem eager to adopt Box within your daily workflows!

…to ensure they had a secure, interactive and limitless space in which to develop their material!

If we’re impressed by your use case diversity, it goes without saying that other students and staff will be equally as interested… our DUSA and CAHID testimonials have been received well so far!

We want to continually add new use cases to our portfolio so others can benefit, be inspired, and use them as a guide to determine how Box can help them.

Box has completely redesigned the user interface to make everyday activities easier. The new Preview Experience fosters an intuitive experience and the ease of a consumer-grade technology with:

• A streamlined header toolbar that includes only the most commonly used actions – Edit, Share and Download. 
• A revamped sidebar that now includes a timeline of the latest activity. 
• A smarter content bar that serves up relevant actions such as rotation and sliding for images & start, stop and volume control for videos.

Improvements to the Box for Office integration are on their way and for some users, they have appeared already! New capabilities will include the ability to:

• Lock/Unlock files directly from PowerPoint, Word & Excel.
• Improved conflict resolution.
• Enhanced file uploading capabilities from Outlook.

Box Edit

This free feature allows you to edit content directly on Box using the native apps on your computer.

If you can edit it on your desktop, you can edit it on Box – without leaving your browser.

Box Sync

Sync data stored on Box to your desktop. Content that syncs down to your computer is available for offline access.

If you make changes to the synced files locally, these changes automatically sync back up to your Box account when you're next connected to the internet.

Box for Office

Easily open, edit, save and share any file from Box seamlessly within Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

You can even streamline your workflow within Outlook by using shared links to files in Box instead of attachments.

Box Notes

Create documents, take notes and share ideas in real-time with anyone.

Never let the best ideas get away!

As you will know, UoD IT are taking the lead in our institutional transformational journey and have somehow managed to successfully deliver Box in spite of this! Box is not only an additional resource, but a clear contribution to delivering on:
