Reflection
God of our journey, God of hope,
we your children give you thanks and praise,
as we gather to begin anew our journey together.
May all who are part of this community,
especially all those who are new to our school,
find a welcome space to grow and be.
Give us the grace to begin our year,
with hope and joy
so that we may reach out to all those we meet.
This we pray in Jesus’ name.

Dear Parents and Friends of St Anne’s
Welcome to 2021; a special welcome to our new St Anne’s families. I’ve been thrilled with the positive start to the year made by our students and staff. Students have come to school ready to learn, ready to reconnect with their friends and ready to connect with new friends. The staff are “raring to go” and I look forward to a year of wellbeing, joy and learning. This year our school newsletter will be emailed to you each Thursday - please take the time to read it and keep up to date with what is occurring at our school.

If you haven’t done so already please download the Skoolbag app on your phone. This will enable you to keep up to date with what is happening at our school. Link https://www.moqproducts.com.au/skoolbag/
VISITORS POLICY
General Statement:
We seek to provide an open and friendly learning environment which values and actively encourages visitors to our school. At the same time we recognise our duty of care to ensure a safe environment for our students and staff, and we recognise our responsibility to protect and preserve our resources against theft, vandalism and misuse.
Aims:
-
To provide a safe and secure environment for our students, staff and resources.
-
To establish protocols and procedures that effectively monitor and manage visitors, whilst not compromising the open and inviting nature of our school.
Implementation:
-
Whilst we actively encourage an inviting and open school, the safety of our students, staff and resources remain our highest priorities.
-
Visitors are defined as all people other than staff members, students, and parents/guardians involved in the task of delivering or collecting children at the start or end of the school day.
-
All visitors will be required to report to the administration office prior to undertaking any activity within the school, where they will be required to sign in electronically and will be assigned a “Visitors” badge which they must wear at all times within the school. Similarly, visitors will be required to report to the administration office at the end of their visit to return their badge and to “sign out” in the electronic register.
-
Visitors will be provided with directions, and will be made aware of any construction works etc that may impact upon their safety or comfort.
-
The above mentioned process for managing and monitoring visitors will be regularly published in the school newsletter, and will appear at all school entrances.
-
Visitors within the school who have failed to follow this process will be reminded to do so.
Under the Summary Offences Act 1966, the principal reserves the right, and has the authority to prohibit any potential visitor from entering or remaining within the school, and also has the authority to invite or exclude people from using or being within the school boundaries outside school operating hours.
The school’s emergency management procedures will ensure that visitors within the school at the time of any emergency or practice drill will be recognised and be appropriately catered for.
Children exiting during school day
The established procedure is as follows during class time:
-
Parent/ guardian is to report to the office and sign out electronically
-
Principal/ delegate will notify teacher for student to come to office to be collected by parent/guardian for early departure.
-
These procedures are highlighted in orientation briefings with new parents and Foundation parents. They are also highlighted in the St. Anne’s Kew East Parent Information Book. On an annual basis a reminder is published in the school newsletter.

Parents and Friends
The St Anne’s P&F Committee would like to extend a very warm welcome to the Lui & Tomlinson families who are new to our Foundation class, and welcome back all returning families.
The main aim of the St Anne's P&F is to strengthen the St Anne's community, to provide opportunities for parents and families to meet, connect and engage, and to support the school and students.
As we all know, the COVID situation remains uncertain and we will need to ensure our events and how we do things are COVID- safe at all times ensuring the St Anne's community remains healthy and safe.
Our Family Welcome Night which was previously held at the MCC Bowling Club will not be taking place this year, instead Class Reps for Years 2-6 will be in touch to organise a coffee catch up in the next few weeks. The Foundation / Year 1 Drinks will be taking place on Friday 26th February, kindly hosted by Therese & Tony Taouk.
Fundraising: We would like volunteers to assist with our Easter Fundraiser & Twilight Sports BBQ which will take place in March this year. If you can help out, please let Lisa Hodgkinson know (paf@sannkewe.catholic.edu.au).
Our first 2021 P&F Committee meeting will take place on Wednesday 17th February 2021, all parents are welcome to attend the meeting which will take place via Zoom.
