Subsidized training available for manufacturers impacted by steel and aluminum tariffs

Manufacturers impacted by the steel and aluminum tariffs can now take advantage of training sessions for half the price thanks to a new, one-time government subsidy.

Many companies not directly impacted suffered nonetheless by impacts through the supply chain. This special subsidy was developed to help companies build capacity and regain their competitive footing, through funded skill development and training.

WHO CAN BENEFIT

  • Manufacturers with operations in Manitoba who can demonstrate they have been impacted.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

  • Register for any eligible program and use promo code STAL to claim your 50 per cent discount.
  • Hurry! Support will be allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis for programs to be completed between December 1, 2019 and March 31, 2020. Certain courses with sessions that extend into early April are also eligible.
  • Qualifying manufacturers can register up to four employees (total, across all programs). Additional registrations may qualify, depending on demand.

Eligible programs were determined based on input from a broad-cross section of the manufacturing community, and programs were then short-listed based on the limited period available for funding outlined by the federal government.

EXECUTIVE SUPPORTS ALSO ELIGIBLE

CME is also able to subsidize enhanced executive training. Senior-level leadership can learn from outside expertise by accessing CME’s network of senior leadership coaches to build capacity through professional development. Companies are required to contribute 50% of the daily rate to a maximum 20-day engagement.

This service is intended to build internal capacity through senior level coaching and training. If you believe your company can benefit from these Enhanced Executive Advisory Services, please email Carrie.Schroeder@cme-mec.ca for a proposal template to apply as soon as possible as the funding is finite.

In addition, other programs may qualify. Program maximums are cumulative, by company and combine subsidies offered through training, enhanced executive supports and any additional programs.
