1. UK Salmonella outbreak sickens almost 200

A Salmonella outbreak that has been linked to pork scratching products has affected nearly 200 people, and has also triggered a recall in Canada.

2. CDC investigates outbreaks linked to Prosciutto and Salami
25.08.2021. USA. Salmonella
Two multistate outbreaks of Salmonella linked to Italian-style meats are under investigation, and as of Aug. 24, 23 people are part of a Salmonella Typhimurium outbreak and 13 part of a Salmonella Infantis outbreak.

3. Global leaders call for urgent reduction of antimicrobials in food systems

The WHO have called on all countries to significantly reduce the levels of antimicrobials used in global food systems, including stopping the use of critically important antibiotics for growth promotion and significantly curbing over-the-counter sales of other important antimicrobials.

4. Chemical and pesticide residues a leading cause of Rapid Alerts in 2020

The number of EU food and feed risk notices fell by more than 6 percent in 2020 according to the RASFF annual report, with ethylene oxide in sesame seeds, Salmonella in poultry meat, and pesticide residues in fruit and vegetables amongst the most frequently reported issues.

5. EU ASF awareness campaign extended to include nine new countries
