COLLEGE NOTICES–––––– UNIFORM SHOP NEWSBACK TO BREEN–––––– The Uniform Shop will be open on Saturday 10 August from 10.00am-3.00pm for all your Uniform and Supporters' needs. Why not drop by and say hello! SUPPORTER'S DUTY–––––– A reminder that Year 8 have been designated supporter’s duty on Saturday 10 August. All boys are to report to the Powell Pavilion between 1.00 and 1.15pm to have their names marked off. Once this has been completed, boys will move to the back ovals to support the College’s 1st XI and await further instructions. Boys will be dismissed at the conclusion of the 1st XV game, approximate time is 4.50pm. PERFORMING ARTS SHOWCASE–––––– The Performing Arts Showcase will be staged in the College Gymnasium this Thursday 1 August commencing at 6.30pm. All are invited to a wonderful evening of musical celebration! This year we will be raising funds for the USA Music Tour and we kindly ask you to support the following initiatives which will take place during the evening:
All students involved in an Instrumental or Choral Ensemble will be performing as part of the evening’s entertainment. Please come along to support our talented students and enjoy a wonderful evening of music. NATIONALLY CONSISTENT COLLECTION OF DATA (NCCD)–––––– The Nationally Consistent Collection of Data of School Students with Disability (NCCD) is a collection of data in August each year. It counts the number of students receiving adjustments (or support) because of a disability. The national data collection helps governments and schools plan for the needs of students with a disability. The aim of the data collection is to make sure that students with a disability have access to the same quality education as the others in their class. JUNIOR SCHOOL–––––– YEAR 5 GRANDPARENTS' DAY–––––– Last Friday's celebration of Mass for Year 5's Grandparents' Day, followed by morning tea and class visits, was yet another beautiful celebration of community and belonging. SENIOR SCHOOL–––––– ENHANCE II–––––– On Monday 29 July, the Visual and Performing Arts Faculties facilitated an 'arts' enrichment day for Year 8 students. YEAR 12 CHEMISTRY EXCURSION–––––– Year 12 Chemistry and Earth and Environmental Science students were able to undertake their depth studies at the Sydney Water Recycling Plant in Penrith. " Enhance II opened my eyes to the different types of arts and how they are all unique. I learnt to step out of my comfort zone and try different things." Student feedback CURRICULUM–––––– YEAR 12 TRIAL HSC EXAMINATIONS–––––– Year 12 being their dress rehearsal for the HSC examinations next week on Monday 5 August and will conclude two weeks later, on Monday 19 August. BENVENUTI IN AUSTRALIA!–––––– On Saturday 27 July, the Robson Auditorium was full of students and parents eagerly awaiting the arrival of 37 Italian teenagers from Blaise Pascal High School in Pomezia, near Rome. WELLBEING–––––– 2019-2020 YEAR AMBASSADOR ELECTION–––––– Student leadership plays an integral role at St Patrick's College. It gives our students the opportunity to use their voice and participate in decision-making processes and advocate for the needs of the College and wider community. FROM THE DIRECTOR OF WELLBEING–––––– The College recently received details about the new SBS drama The Hunting, premiering on Thursday 1 August. This timely series aims to promote discussion and awareness to enable positive experiences for young people online. WHOLE SCHOOL–––––– OLD BOY ORDINATION–––––– This coming Saturday 3 August, a number of young men from the Good Shepherd Seminary will be ordained into the priesthood at St Mary's Cathedral. One of those taking on this vocation is Ronald Maree ('10). LEARNING FROM THE ORIGINAL CUSTODIANS - ALICE SPRINGS EXCURSION–––––– On 23 June, a small group of students left for Alice Springs to undertake a cultural immersion that every single person hoped would change the way they saw the world. AUSTRALIAN SCHOOLS BAND FESTIVAL 2019–––––– Last Sunday the College’s Blue, Black and Gold Big Band represented the College in the Australian Schools Band Festival at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. All students of the Big Band should be immensely proud of their performance. The Big Band won a Silver Award, congratulations to all boys who performed. CO-CURRICULAR–––––– FROM THE HEAD OF SECONDARY SPORT–––––– Congratulations to our current students on their recent Cross Country endeavours and also to a host of Old Boys on some fantastic achievements on various sporting fields. FROM THE JUNIOR SCHOOL COORDINATOR OF CO-CURRICULAR–––––– The Winter season has almost come to an end. With only two rounds remaining, the Junior School has nine teams that have remained undefeated thus far.
