ZAMBRERO'S CHILLI ZIN CARNE Zambrero, a Mexican-inspired fast-food chain, will launch their new vegan-friendly ‘Chilli Zin Carne’ before the end of October. The brand focuses on fresh and modern superfood ingredients for their burritos and bowl offerings. The new Chilli Zin Carne, a plant-based version of the popular Chilli Con Carne, is a first to market in the Irish Mexican QSR space and is made with sous-vide soy-based mince, red peppers and black beans in a rich tomato sauce flavoured with traditional Mexican spices. 2. SUBWAY'S MEGA MEAT OFFERINGSubway has added a new sandwich, the Mega Meat sub to its menu. The Mega Meat combines the Italian BMT and Meatball Marinara into one filled with pepperoni, ham, salami and beef meatballs. Subway is also allowing guests to order the ingredients of any sub as part of a salad or wrap instead for a lighter option. Another recent menu change has been made to their nachos, with more mozzarella cheese on top and choice of Flamin’ Hot Doritos instead of plain Doritos chips. 3. REUSABLE BURGER KING CONTAINERSBurger King have announced plans to test reusable takeaway containers for food and beverage menu items to reduce waste – becoming one of the first global food chains to do so. The trial that is set to start in 2021 in various regions will test washable Whopper containers and cups which guests can return using the circular package service loop. The containers will be sanitized and returned to restaurants where they can be used again, reducing the need for single-use packaging. 4. GERMAN DONER KEBAB EXPANSIONFast casual franchise, German Doner Kebab is planning to open 12 more restaurants by the end of the year. Future sites will be opened in Canada, Sweden, Saudi Arabia and UK. The chain, which currently operates 47 sites, recently announced a 46% rise in same-store sales in August following its participation in the UK’s Eat Out to Help Out scheme. In recent months, German Doner Kebab has expanded their click and collect takeaway capabilities to better meet consumer needs. 5. DOMINO'S TO MEET EXPECTATIONSDomino's Pizza expects to meet market expectations for 2020 profit as a lower value-added tax rate and higher online orders helped it post a 19% jump in third-quarter sales. Online sales now account for around 95% of sales in Britain. Sales in the UK and Ireland increased to £342.1 million in the quarter ending 27 September, up from £288.2 million the year prior. The chain has also benefited in recent months from the reopening of contactless collections and return of sporting events. 6. KULABA KITCHEN COMES TO ASDAYO!, multi-channel Japanese food group, is set to trial a new Mumbai-inspired street-food concept in Asda grocery stores. Kulaba Kitchen will be available in five locations over the next few months in a dual-launch with Panku, the group’s pan-Asian street food concept. Kulaba Kitchen launched online last month as part of Asda’s food box offerings. YO! continues to expand its multi-brand and multi-format strategy as they recognise consumer demand for new meal options to enjoy at home. 7. BETTER-FOR-YOU FROZEN PIZZASAmerican chickpea-based pasta brand, Banza is launching a frozen pizza range using chickpeas as the key ingredient. The range includes four-cheese, roasted vegetable and Margherita and is available across America in Target, Whole Foods Market, Wegmans and Heinen’s stores. Packs of plain pizza bases are also available. Since launching five years ago, Banza has become the fastest-growing pasta brand in the U.S. ‘Better-for-you' frozen pizza offerings grew 26% between May and August, according to Nielsen data, compared to regular frozen pizza category growth of 7%. 8. GORDON RAMSAY'S BURGER EATERYGordon Ramsay plans to open his first UK restaurant in the Knightsbridge Harrod’s store. The new eatery will serve flame grilled burgers with a wide variety of toppings to choose from such as Guinness mustard aioli, mangalitza pork bacon and Gruyère cheese. The well-known TV personality currently owns a successful restaurant in Las Vegas and has set a goal of opening around 50 locations across the UK, including a roll out of his Bread Street Kitchen concept. 9. YARD SALE PIZZA'S NEW LOCATIONYard Sale Pizza is expanding their chain with a new location due to open in South London. The New York-inspired pizza operator will be focusing on delivery after many requests to open in the area. The ‘New Porker’ is a signature Yard Sale Pizza option featuring Sicilian sausage, guajillo chillies, garlic and basil. The chain, which was established in 2014, is known for their collaborations with local brands such as Monty’s Deli and Mangal 2 and has big plans to help support their new community.
