Legislative Update: BATC’s Moratorium Bill Introduced

A bi-partisan bill that would require two-thirds vote and a 10-day notice for the imposition of an interim ordinance (moratorium) related to housing, was introduced in both bodies of the Minnesota Legislature on Thursday. Currently, cities impose moratoria without any required notice to property owners and can do so with a simple majority.

BATC Welcomes Nick Erickson
|
Nick Erickson joined BATC this week as our Regulatory Affairs Manager. Nick brings more than a decade of public affairs and strategic communications expertise to BATC. Prior to joining BATC, he worked at UnitedHealth Group where he provided strategic communications guidance to UnitedHealth’s External Affairs and Human Capital teams. Nick’s work included complex regulatory affairs issues, assessing their impacts, and developing communications strategies to multiple audiences. Nick will utilize this experience to advocate for BATC’s issues with key regulatory agencies, which include the Department of Labor and Industry, the Pollution Control Agency, the Met Council and many more. Nick
holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Communications from the University of St. Thomas Opus College of Business and continues to be involved with the St. Thomas community as a mentor to undergraduate students. He lives in Eagan with his wife and daughter. We look forward to introducing Nick to the team and having him aboard at BATC!
