On Wednesday 11 December EUPAVE and MEP Inma Rodríguez-Piñero held a Debate on “Sustainable roads towards 2050 carbon neutrality” at the European Parliament. Wednesday 11 December 2019 also marks the day of the Green Deal’s release.

Mrs. Inma Rodríguez-Piñero, Member of the European Parliament, and Mr. Stéphane Nicoud, President of EUPAVE, opened the event attended by 36 participants. Mr. Luc Rens, Managing Director of EUPAVE, moderated the event.

EUPAVE celebrated its traditional Christmas dinner debate on Wednesday 11 December 2019 at La Maison du Luxembourg, Brussels.
The dinner was this year focused on the results of EUPAVE’s satisfaction survey circulated within members and partners ahead of the event.  Participants gave input and ideas on how to improve and develop EUPAVE in the next years. Only Partners and Members of EUPAVE were invited to debate on the question.

The dinner was also the occasion to thank Mr. André Jasienski, Managing Director of FEBELCEM, for his work for the association and to wish him a good retirement.

EUPAVE’s Environmental Strategy WG has worked on an infographic showing how concrete pavements make road more sustainable. This infographic has been released to the public during our EU Debate in December.

The Concrete Pavement Technology Center (CP Tech Center) maintains a database of recently completed and in-progress research related to concrete pavements and bridge decks. This database is gathered through obtaining information from across the concrete industry—from newsletters, agency websites, interviews with NC² members, and The Transportation Research Board's Research in Progress (RiP) Database. 

Increasing attention is being paid to pavement smoothness by pavement owner agencies. This is partly because smoothness is being used as a tool to assess pavement condition and partly to improve driver satisfaction by reducing discomfort.
