Mechanical Contracts Manager, Graham Beale said: “We are delighted to welcome Spencer to the team and we are excited to watch him develop his expertise whilst learning his trade. On completion of a successful training period, Spencer will be given the opportunity to join our apprenticeship programme." Committed to excellence![]() RK Contracts Manager, Bradley Grimes is tackling all things safety this month after embarking on a Site Management Safety Training Scheme. The course covers all relevant legislation and other aspects which affect safe working in the building, construction and civil engineering industries. It highlights the need for risk assessment in the workplace, the implementation of the necessary control measures and adequate communication to sustain a Health and Safety culture among the workforce. Electrical Fire Safety WeekNov 23-Nov 29![]() Over half of all accidental house fires are caused by electricity. Electrical Safety First’s annual campaign aims to promote electrical fire safety in the home. The campaign is calling on the government to take action to stop people being killed in their homes. The aim is to reduce fires of electrical origin by 10 per cent over the next five years. Top tips: Fit fuse boxes with a Residual Current Device (RCD). This life-saving device cuts the electricity off automatically if a fault is detected. Plug-in RCDs can also be fitted to individual sockets. Electrical installation checks should be carried out by a registered electrician every ten years or when you move house. Electrical Safety First recommends privately rented properties are checked every five years or on change of tenancy. Avoid overloading electrical adaptors by plugging too many appliances into one socket, especially those with a high electrical current rating such as kettles, irons and heaters. Check flexible cables for damage, wear and tear and ensure the plug is attached securely to the cable. Only use if in good condition. Burn marks on sockets which may also be hot to touch may need repairing or replacing. Working smoke alarms should be present on each floor of a property. If a fire does start, this will give you a chance to get out safely and call 999 for help. Useful links: Follow us on social media |
