Ballet Preljocaj’s Snow White
2-11 September at Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC)

Hailed by audiences and critics for its entrancing choreography and stunning beauty, France’s Ballet Preljocaj’s contemporary retelling of Snow White prepares to make its Australian debut as the next installment of the QPAC International Series.

This lush, full-length story ballet by French choreographer, Angelin Preljocaj, features massive sets, the magnificent excess of Gustav Mahler's symphonies performed by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Johannes Fritszch, and an all-star roster of French artists including set design by Thierry Leproust, and costumes by legendary Haute Couture designer Jean Paul Gaultier.

Brisbane Festival is finally here!
3 - 24 September, 2016

Brisbane Festival 2016 will explode across the city over the next three weeks. It will feature a thrilling program of theatre, music, dance, circus, opera, the return of Arcadia, and finish with the Sunsuper Riverfire. Arcadia will transport you into a magical space of wonder and excitement.

Much of the program will take place in the South Bank precinct, at venues including Queensland Art Gallery/Gallery of Modern Art, Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, Queensland Performing Arts Centre, the Cultural Forecourt and the Courier-Mail Piazza.

Act for Kids - Trust is in your hands

This Child Protection Week (4 - 10 September), BSB member Act for Kids is encouraging Brisbane city-goers to put their hands up against child abuse at a fun event in Southbank.

On Friday the 9th of September, the Act for Kids team will be taking over the Southbank Piazza and attempting to get over 3,500 painted hand prints on one single roll of paper.

Having only ever been done once before in the world, Act for Kids are hoping that the public will join in the fun and volunteer their hand prints to help raise awareness of child abuse and neglect.

Head over to the Piazza between 9am - 3pm and get involved in this wonderful cause!

Colour, Community & Hope – Mosaic Art Project

After two and a half years of planning and development, BSB member Common Ground Queensland are proud to unveil the completed Colour, Community & Hope – Cross-block Art Project; a mosaic masterpiece comprising over 5000 handmade tiles. 

Common Ground invites you to celebrate the official opening of the project with Councillor Matthew Bourke, Chairman Lifestyle and Community Services.

Held in tropical springtime within the State Library of Queensland and the adjacent Cultural Precinct, this annual and much-loved cultural institution continues to grow every year and attract an eager and ever-increasing community of highly-engaged readers.
