Understanding what keeps our members up at night

Understanding what keeps our members up at night

At the Calgary Chamber, we exist to help each of our members grow and succeed. Through advocacy, peer networking programs, events, workshops and business connections, we strive to provide the opportunities you need each year to take your business to the next level. But that's only half of it.

We strive to be the Chamber that knows its members best, and so over the course of 2015 we embarked on an unprecedented number of activities to reach out, connect, and find out what issues keep them up at night.

From a member bus tour to a month of special deliveries and Operation Thank You, read about how we connected with our members this year.

Partner study: Share entrepreneurial insights for the benefit of Alberta

Knowledge of the challenges facing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is crucial to raising the levels of productivity and performance of Alberta's economy, enabling it to compete successfully on a global scale.

In practice, however, very little is known about what successful SMEs are doing to achieve success. That's where you come in.

On behalf of our partners, the University of Calgary and the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, we would like to invite you to take part in a unique study on Promoting Sustainable Performance (PSP), which aims to reveal crucial insights into the sustainable economic growth and performance of SMEs.

Due to overwhelming demand from our members, this event has been moved to a larger venue: the Hyatt Regency Calgary.

We are looking for small businesses to register teams of 3 or 4 people to spend 2 hours reading to kids tomorrow.

As part of our ongoing work with Give to Grow to create a more literate workforce, the Calgary Chamber in partnership with Calgary Reads, Calgary Economic Development, Place2Give and the Calgary Public Library Foundation would like to invite you to help support early childhood literacy by taking part in the Give to Grow Reading Rally this holiday season.

Held in the gym of Keeler School, the reading rally brings up to 100 Grade 1 and 2 students together with special guests, volunteers, local businesses and educators to celebrate the joy and power of reading. Each volunteer reads stories aloud to two or three children, and every child who attends receives a bag filled with books to take home.

When it comes to deciding what social media platform to advertise on, it's safe to say that Instragram isn't top of mind. But there's one good reason it should be: targeting, with the help of data from its parent company, Facebook.

Facebook’s targeting options took years to develop, and are some of the most robust and powerful in the social media world. By tapping into those same targeting capabilities on Instagram, your business can start to leverage a user base that isn't only large, it's highly engaged.

Learn more about why you should start including Instagram in your next social media campaign.
