We truly send our best wishes to Victorians - hang in there guys. We can imagine how hard it must be for you but your hard work and commitment is showing in your current numbers. Tomorrow is Spring, which is always exciting, but we are also thrilled that we will finally launch Nest 3.0! It's been a long time in development but we are pretty sure you'll think it's worth it. We've included a summary of what has changed on Nest later in this newsletter. We were just about to start our face-to-face Match Up events again before the COVID-19 community transmission in Victoria, NSW and now QLD took off. We will continue to reschedule them in hope that we can hold them, but we'll only do so when everyone will feel safe to attend. The new dates are included later in this issue. Take care everyone. Practice social distancing, wash your hands and get tested if you have the mildest of symptoms. Introducing SLLAB!!Northcott Innovation (NI) is about to launch the Supported Living Lab (SLLAB), which will seek to improve the quality of accommodation supports and services provided to customers. It will be an Australian-first space where complex challenges within supported accommodation for people with disability can be explored. SLLAB will take a co-design approach: this means bringing together people living in supported accommodation and those who support them to tackle difficult problems, rather than trying to solve them without the input of those most affected. Those with lived experience can be directly involved in identifying issues that are important to them and developing solutions that work for them. NI saw the need for something like SLLAB during our work with supported living customers and staff. Like every home, supported accommodation homes are an ecosystem. We wanted a way to address the inter-connected issues and problems that can occur in homes, alongside those living in them. This means we can look at a problem from multiple angles and come up with solutions that may not have been discovered if we’d only tackled it from one view or perspective. For example: how can we improve the experience of meal times for people with disability living in supported accommodation? How can we offer choice for customers, whilst making sure everyone eats a healthy diet and stays safe? Improving experiences like this takes some unconventional thinking and that’s where SLLAB comes in. Not only will it bring in those with lived experience, it will bring together people from diverse disciplines to work together. It will team dietitians with designers and speech therapists with storytellers, to bring about uncommon approaches that can hopefully effect real change. For more information about SLLAB email info@northcottinnovation.com.au A QLD hinterland Hamptons-style home, close to the beach If you are searching for a hinterland-style lifestyle, with beaches and local amenities close by, this is the perfect home for you! If you could change one thing about disability housing, what would it be? Nest 3.0 launches 1 September 2020! We are super excited about Nest 3.0 and are confident you will be too. There are a number of changes that will make Nest even easier for you to use, but the three main ones are:
How does the matching score work? Nest's matching algorithm is a highly technical feature in the back end of Nest which enables the site to match available properties with someone's funding, housing needs and preferences. However, since we launched Nest, we've heard from a number of providers that depending on the property and the person's needs, sometimes there can be flexibility around this 'matching' and that providers would rather have those conversations than not have their property shown at all. Team Nest was hesitant about loosening our matching because we wanted to ensure that someone looking for their new home is not shown properties that their funding would never allow or properties that would not meet their needs, but we also wanted to enable more conversations if those conversations could end positively for both parties. So.... we've added our matching score to the site. The matching score shows how well the property 'matches' the funding type, desired living location, housing requirements and preferences of the person looking for their new home. The longer the line; the better the match. This means you may be shown properties even if they aren't a perfect 'match' for you, but you'll easily be able to see how good a match the property is before you apply. Applying for a property is easier now - no account is required! Sometimes we know people don't want to spend time creating an account on Nest and simply want to apply for a property they see - immediately! So now you can. This should make it much easier and faster for you to apply for your properties... and come back and complete your registration when you have more time later. We'll still recommend you create an account, however, so you can be notified whenever a new property that meets your needs and preferences is added to Nest. More flexibility with filtering We have added new and easy-to-use filtering options for you when you are searching for your new home. This will make it significantly easier to narrow or broaden searches as you wish without having to change details in your account. If you have any questions about Nest 3.0, don't hesitate to give the friendly Nest Team a call on 1300 547 905 or email them at: info@gonest.com.au The Nest team was so looking forward to being back on the road and enabling providers and home seekers to meet in person in QLD, WA and VIC. Just when we thought we'd be able to, that pesky COVID-19 reared its head again and put our face-to-face plans on hold yet again. We'll keep moving the dates of our Match Ups to ensure we only hold the events when everyone feels safe to attend. However, you can still register for the events (they are and always will be free for people with disability or their support coordinator/carer) and if we have to move the date, we will notify you. Register today! Tuesday 13 October 2020: Newcastle Nest Match Up: Central Leagues Club, 8 Bula Street, Charlestown, NSW 2290 Thursday 29 October: Western Sydney Nest Match Up: Panthers Penrith Rugby Leagues Club, 123 Mulgoa Road, Penrith NSW 2750 Thursday 5 November: South Sydney Nest Match Up: Campbelltown RSL, 1 Carberry Lane, Campbelltown NSW 2560 Hi Nana, Now that I can apply for properties without completing a full registration, is there a reason I should complete it? 'Short of time but keen to move!' ------------------------ Oh pet, what a great little question that is! The answer is: Yes! Yes! Yes darl!!! Complete that registration when you get the chance. I'll tell you why: The tech team at Nest has enabled the site to allow you to apply for properties without a completed account because we know that sometimes people are in a rush and want to shoot their application off super duper fast simply because they are super duper keen to find a new home. We totally get that honeypie. However, completing your account registration means that Nest continues to look for a home that meets your funding, needs and preferences, even when you are not on the site. We have over 500 gorgie property providers registered with Nest and new properties are added to the site every day sweetpea. If you have completed your registration, you'll get notified when a new property that matches your needs gets added to Nest. That way, darl, you don't have to keep on coming back all the time to see if there are new suitable properties for you... Nest is doing the searching in the background for you - every single day! How good is that my little possum? Toodle oo until next time. Nana Got a question for Nana Nest? Email her at: info@gonest.com.au Keen to advertise to a targeted audience?
