GO Cambodia 2014

The 2014 GO Cambodia team leaves on Friday this week, and will spend the 2 weeks of the upcoming school holidays in Cambodia. This year’s team consists of 11 students and 3 staff members.

Whilst in Cambodia, the team will initially spend time in Phnom Penh, gaining important historical and cultural perspective on the country, and in particular the destruction under the Pol Pot regime in the 1970s. From there, they will travel 3 hours north up the Mekong River to Stung Trong – a rural area of around 118,000 people living in poor villages. The students will be learning about how a church-based community group is improving lives in the local community through education and healthcare. They will assist in a program for children in a number of villages. The students will be challenged to organise games, work with interpreters, and lead the activities. The final part of the trip will be spent in Siem Reap, visiting the temples of the Angkor Empire, which are now considered the eighth wonder of the world.

Trivia Night - thank you!

The 2014 Trivia Night, held last Saturday night, was a fantastic success. We would like to especially thank all families who donated so generously, and all those who came along and participated. There were many memorable moments on the night, especially those Bollywood dance moves!

The money raised will support the GO Program. Thank you also to the organising committee for creating and hosting such a fun community event, and to our special guest host, Ed Halmagyi.
