Welcome!

Dear Readers,

COVID-19 has thrown a fair amount of uncertainty into the current and upcoming application seasons. We will endeavor to keep you updated on changes/updates that might affect your application.

For active applications:

  • For students who have active applications: Please update your correspondence address in the appropriate applications systems (AMCAS, ACOMAS, AADSAS, etc.) to your current mailing address.

MCAT Updates:

  • March 27th and April 4th MCAT test dates have been cancelled globally.  Flexible rescheduling has been made available through the end of May. Please see the AAMC page for details.
  • Pearson Vue is the company that oversees the testing centers. They are regularly updating their website. They will email you if there is a change to your exam date/location. You should make it a habit to regularly check their website as well as your spam/junk email folder so that you don’t miss a vital communication.
  • Pearson VUE will issue a full refund of the test fee if your testing center is closed.

DAT Updates:

  • All Prometric testing centers are temporarily closed.  Prometric will reach out to you via email with information regarding your specific test date and rescheduling instructions.
  • Students whose DENTPIN is set to expire on or before May 31, 2020 will have their access extended through June 1, 2020.

Committee Letter Process:

Due to covid-19 restrictions, Penn State Committee Letters for 2021 will be based upon a remote meeting with the applicant. Supporting documents are still required.

  • For students requesting interview dates, as of April 1st, we are reducing the number of required letters of recommendation to 2, rather than the usual 3.  We recognize that getting LOR from a health professional or faculty member could take longer than usual.  Please be in touch after April 15th if you are still having difficulty getting letters.  This does not change the number of letters that you should submit with your medical/dental school application.

Group Advising:

  • Group Advising will take place on Zoom.  Please see our website (expand the group advising tab) for details.
  • Gap/Glide year group advising session will be converted to a series of informational videos.  Please stay tuned for details.  This will replace the previously scheduled group advising session on 3/24.

Please continue reading below for some more lighthearted news—many schools and associations are taking their activities online and there are still opportunities to engage with fellow students, admissions representatives, and current med/dent/PA students!

Ways to get involved from afar

Remote learning doesn't mean you can't still stay involved in the community!  Look for local ways to stay connected.  We have also compiled a list of organizations that are accepting volunteers from afar.
