The result is that there will be a period of time when we will need to show resilience and adaptability when we celebrate mass as a whole school. Request for Placement of Children in 2019 These will be formed in the days following the close of school. Our usual process of attempting to create two, or three, approximately 'equal' class groups in terms of student needs, gender, size, etc will be carried out using all the data we have available to us. Each child will be asked to nominate 3 or 4 friends they would like to have around them in their new class and efforts will be made to accommodate their wishes to the extent that is possible. This is not a simple task and we have never pleased everyone and I doubt that is possible to achieve in this exercise. On the understanding that most parental requests for particular arrangements cannot be met, now is the time for parents to inform me of any issues they foresee regarding the placement of their child for next year. The following are not valid requests and will not be considered: a) Requests for a particular teacher Valid requests: Please realise that being in the same classroom as another child does not mean they will sit together – they could be on opposite sides of the room. Free socialising happens in the playground where segregation does not occur. If you have particular insights that you wish to be considered please email me chris.kenworthy@cewa.edu.au. Do not rely on the idea that I will remember and act on a comment made or discussion held in the past. I will only consider the emails I receive in the coming weeks. Lastly, it is me who makes these decisions and not the classroom teachers. Do not lobby them - send me an email. God bless Canteen Specials for Term 4 This week's assembly is presented by students in 6G. Parents of 6G children are invited to the staff room after the assembly for a cuppa with Mrs Jacquie Hardwicke. Congratulations to the students who received Merit Awards at last week's assembly. Library Roster 2019 PLACEMENTS: Please let the office know as soon as possible if your child is not returning to OLG in 2019 or if you are changing address over the holidays. This help us with planning. Many thanks to those who have let us know that they are moving. Knitting Club BOOK FAIR! BOOK FAIR! All LAP volunteers must complete training to participate in the program. They must have a valid Working with Children Card, follow the OLG Code of Conduct and adhere to the requirements of Confidentiality. We are fortunate to have many volunteers at our school that are happy to commit to supporting children that would benefit from one to one time for half an hour each week. This time may be spent setting goals that will then be worked on to aim for successful learning in the classroom, it may involve the child pursuing a hobby, they may participate in confidence building activities, there are many possibilities on how the time is used. It does not involve tutoring or extra time for completion of school work. Potentially LAP:
Please contact Nerida Hince via the email below if you think your child would benefit from participating in LAP in 2018. Participation is voluntary, and the sessions may be ongoing, long term or short-term support/help.
