Reflection

If I climb the heavens, Lord,
you are there.
If I fly to the point of sunrise,
your right hand holds me fast.
(Psalm 139)

Greg's Message

Hello Parents and Friends of St. Anne’s
I hope that all fathers enjoyed their time with their loved ones on Father’s Day last Sunday. Last Friday we had a magnificent Father’s Day breakfast in our hall. I thank the Parents and Friends Association for this initiative; we all enjoyed it! Special thanks to the crew of parents who set up the hall and cleaned up. Our breakfast was followed up by our traditional Father’s Day stall, “capping” off a special Father’s Day morning.

Enrolments
We will be starting to organise class structures shortly. It would be appreciated if parents could advise me if their child will not be attending St. Anne’s next year (current Foundation to Year 5 students.)

CEMSIS SURVEYS
CEMSIS is an acronym of Catholic Education Melbourne School Improvement Surveys. Surveys will be offered to staff, year 4,5 and 6 students and parents. All surveys will be undertaken online. The surveys will provide feedback in relation to our school’s perceived strengths and areas for improvement, and assist in driving school improvement. The survey period has begun and is open until Friday 20th September.

Congratulations
Congratulations to Prudence and Corey Belleville on the recent arrival of Florence, a sister for Xavier. (F/1WM.)
We look forward to seeing Florence soon.

NAPLAN
As of today we have have not received the individual student Naplan reports. These reports will be delivered to the school within the next few days. The reports will then be sent home to year 3 and 5 families.

School Fees
We still have a significant amount of school fees outstanding. For those concerned your attention to this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Staffing
After 21 years of teaching at St. Anne’s, Julie Millsom has announced her resignation, effective October 16th. I thank Jullie for her significant contribution to St. Anne’s as a teacher and in various roles of leadership. On behalf of the school community I wish Julie every best wish for the future. Julie’s replacement will be Andrea O’Flynn. Andrea has worked at St. Anne’s previously and is looking forward to teaching 5/6ML.

Fathers’ Day Breakfast and Stall

When the P & F decided to introduce a Fathers’ Day Breakfast, we were not sure how it would go. In the end, we need not have worried!  The initiative was extremely well supported, with 50 School Families booking tickets in advance. This translated into a great turn out of Fathers, Grandfathers and other special persons accompanying the children for the delicious food, coffee & hot chocolate on offer.

It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm amongst the attendees as they decorated the mural on the wall of the Multi-purpose Hall, completed Activity Sheets and took a tour of the classrooms. Another highlight was the Photo Booth sponsored by the Taouk, Gledden and Clancy families. The opportunity to pose for a fun family photo proved extremely popular. Our teachers’ generosity in opening the classrooms for guided tours conducted by the children is acknowledged and we thank the Coles and Woolworths stores in Kew for donating beautiful, fresh fruit.

Our Annual Fathers’ Day Stall, which followed, was once again very well supported. The children were delighted to have an opportunity to buy a present for Fathers’ Day before it was too late!

Such days don’t happen without the tremendous support of volunteers from among our School Community. Taking lead roles in planning, preparation and co-ordination on the day were Lisa Hodgkinson and Anne-Marie Moir (Breakfast) and Tiff Garonzi and Mel Graetz (Stall). Lending them valuable, additional assistance for gift wrapping, set-up, breakfast service, clean-up and the manning of the stall were Sue Wuttke, Louise Gee, Fiona Clancy, Melina Panaouris, Ann Lau, Jocelyn Elliott, Melissa Cray, Stav Kikos, Becky Ellis and Sarah Dare. Thank you all very much!
