AAA Annual General Meeting

The Australian Alpaca Association (AAA) reflected on a positive year for both the organisation and AAA membership at the company’s AGM today attended by over 20 members today in Canberra.
President Ian Frith outlined the vast array of issues that the AAA have worked on during year to bring about overwhelmingly positive results for AAA members across the country. The Board have worked tirelessly and cohesively to fulfill their roles as Directors of the Company in accordance with the AAA’s Constitution and the Corporations Act 2001.
Treasurer Steve O’Keefe reported on a loss for the year of $32,645, excluding a $30,091 export marketed development grant that was applied for post
June 30 . The audited financial results were presented and accepted.
Ian Frith announced a new perpetual medal for an outstanding contribution to the alpaca industry by a volunteer.
"We are proud to present this award to Shane Read as the inaugural winner and namesake of the award. Shane 's contribution to alpaca events including local shows, field days, Royal Shows and the Nationals is unparalleled. " said Mr Frith.
In accordance with the constitution, three candidates offered themselves up for two positions on the AAA Board. The successful candidates are Prue Walduck (532 votes) and Rochelle Veitch (389 votes), both from Victoria. Sarah Wheeler (318 votes) was unsuccessful in the
election.
The Association is thankful to Mr Andrew Hulme and Mrs Sharon Dawson, who did not re-nominate for the Board for their enormous contributions to the Board over their terms in office.
In accordance with the constitution, Mr Ian Frith, incumbent President and Mr Andrew Munn offered themselves for election as President. The AAA announce Andrew Munn (371 votes) as their new president over incumbent Ian Frith (283 votes).
Mr Munn thanked Ian Frith for his service to the AAA and the wider alpaca industry.
“Ian has contributed immensely to the alpaca industry over his tenure and he has overseen a number of essential policy decisions to take
the industry forward”, Mr Munn said.
Mr Munn also expressed thanks to Mr Steve O'Keefe and Dr Sue Harris who tendered their resignations at the conclusion of the meeting.
AAA CEO, Ms Amanda Olthof, is looking forward to continuing the company’s valuable work advocating in the interests of all Australian alpaca owners alongside the appointees.
