Free Danish classes for speakers of Nordic languages

Lærdansk Aarhus is now offering Danish language classes and intensive language courses specifically aimed at speakers of other Mainland Scandinavian languages.  Courses are provided for both people who have a little knowledge of Danish as well as those who can already speak but would like to get some practice and improve their accent.

The PhD Activity Group is now open to postdocs!

The PhD Activity Group now also welcomes postdocs to their monthly events. The group is creating a mailing list for postdocs interested in the group and its activities. If you wish to be added to the list, please send an email to Alejandra Zaragoza Scherman, antiquisima@yahoo.com .

The PhD Activity Group exists for your enjoyment and is a perfect space for all of us to come together and build a strong PhD/post-doc community at Aarhus University. The group organises events such as picnics, concerts in Dale’s Café, after work meetings, PhD café and much more. PhD Activity Group

Thursday May 31 – Secrets of presentation technique – how to present your research using efficient rhetoric and slide shows. The Health PhD Association presents an event aimed at making your presentations more effective.  Dale T. Mortensen Building, Conference Room 1, time to be announced on our facebook page (expected to be between 16.00h and 18.00h)

Thursday May 31PhD Café with live music from Pil & Liv.  Join us to hear some great music from these young Danish singer-songwriters who also happen to be sisters. More info here. 18.00h at Dale’s Café.

Report finding immigrants suffer discrimination criticised as biased

The debate surrounding the treatment of immigrants in Denmark has been reignited this week following the publication of a report by the Council of Europe’s anti-discrimination organisation, the ECRI, which finds that immigrants in Denmark suffer racism and discrimination. The report has, however, been criticised as being based on a “deeply biased view that Danish media promotes racial discrimination”.  Read more here.
