Thank you to the parents who are attentive to the needs of the community and keep their children home when they are unwell. There is always an issue with timing as the infectious period of illness can occur prior to symptoms being in full swing. However, we continue to have children who are clearly unwell attend school and the consequence is the spread of a nasty gastro bug and the flu. We communicate with the Department of Health regarding our role in communication around illness in the school. Children may not attend school for 24 hours after vomiting and diarrhea has occurred. Of concern as well is the number of children who are attending school before 8.15 am. There is no supervision before this time, supervision of students and classrooms open at 8.15am. I understand there are work commitments to be met but the responsibility to care for children before school lies with you as parents. We do have a very generous community who live locally, perhaps a conversation with other families in your year level would assist with morning arrangements. I am very grateful to the parents, staff and students who are contributing to these important committees. We are looking for one or two more parents to assist with the Evangelisation Committee so please let Mrs Ryan know admin@olg.wa.edu.au if you would like to contribute. I look forward to letting you know all about the Eucharist Retreat in the newsletter next week. For the first time this Friday all children in the Our Lady of Grace Parish (OLG School and PREP children) will be joining together for a retreat this Friday. Please keep all of the children, teacher and parents in your prayers. Gabrielle Doyle Congratulations to the students who received Merit Awards at last week's assembly.
