Remember that you were at that time separated from Christ … having no hope and without God in this world. (Ephesians 2:12)

While Ephesians 2:12 may be the only New Testament verse where atheos – the Greek for “without God” – appears, atheism itself is widespread today, especially among the young.

Not long ago at the gym where I work out a fitness trainer shouted at me, “All religion is about is controlling people and taking their money. I don’t believe in some guy in the sky looking down and helping us when we’re in trouble.”

Celebrating the life of Father Tom Logan

On Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at The Watermark at Logan Square, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania occurred the death of The Rev. Thomas Wilson Stearly Logan, Sr. He was ordained a Deacon June 13, 1938 and Priest June 5, 1939 by the Rt. Rev. Francis E. Taitt. He married Hermione Clark Hill September 3, 1938. She was a daughter of Dr. Leslie Pinckney Hill a renowned Harvard-educated educator, author, poet, dramatist, community leader and the first president of Cheyney State University. They had one child, the Rev. Thomas W. S. Logan, Jr. who pre-deceased them in 2011. Read more…

The diocesan event of the year is quickly approaching! People of all ages are invited to join us on May 5th at Church of the Good Samaritan, Paoli, for a day of fun and learning. Children will participate in a rotation of hands-on workshops including biblical storytelling, bread-baking, biblical play, and vestment-making. The Liturgical Commission invites you to reconnect with a childlike experience of faith. Keynote speaker Bill Gordh, a biblical storyteller and musician, will lead adults in workshops, exploring creative ways of incorporating children and youth more fully into our communities’ experience of scripture and worship Read more…
