AlphaFold’s ‘transformative’ database

AlphaFold has predicted the structure of nearly the entire human proteome and made it available through a public database. The deep-learning neural network, developed by Google’s artificial-intelligence firm DeepMind, predicts the 3D structures of proteins from their amino-acid sequences. Researchers say the resource — which is set to grow to 130 million structures by the end of the year — has the potential to revolutionize the life sciences. From Nature.

Survey: ctDNA analysis and potential point-of care technologies

The ability to sensitively detect and measure Circulating Tumour (ctDNA) in the blood of cancer patients has emerged as a promising monitoring tool that could revolutionise the management of cancer. Given that there are currently 761 clinical trials involving ctDNA registered on the NCI clinical trials website, it is clear that ctDNA is an important biomarker in cancer management.

To understand how ctDNA is being used in the clinical management of cancer and how novel technologies and approaches may contribute to creating clinically relevant assays, particularly in the point of care setting, we have designed a survey that we would like clinical oncologists, clinical researchers as well as general practitioners to complete. Once complete, the results will be made available through peer reviewed publication. For more information, please contact Robert Salomon or Dayong Jin
