STFM Condemns Racism and Discrimination 
STFM President Tricia Elliott, MD, has shared a letter condemning racism, denouncing discriminatory and racist acts, and calling on members of the family medicine community to speak out against inequality and systemic racism. Other organizations to release statements include the Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors, the Association of American Medical Colleges, and the American Academy of Family Medicine.

STFM Seeks Chair for New Initiative to Position Academic Family Medicine in Health Systems  
In addition to educating members on the business of medicine, this initiative also includes tactics around making the business case to health systems leaders for investment in primary care/family medicine. The chair's term runs from July 2020 to July 2022.

STFM is convening a group of experts to develop national telemedicine curriculum for students, residents, and faculty. The task force, which is chaired by Steven Lin, MD, will develop national telemedicine curriculum for students, residents, and faculty.

CERA Is Accepting Proposals for Program Directors Survey
CERA, the CAFM Educational Research Alliance, is now accepting proposals for questions for a survey of family medicine program directors. The survey will be conducted in fall of 2020. Researchers whose questions are included in the survey will have exclusive access to their portion of the survey results for 90 days. After the 90 days, the data will be added to the CERA data repository.

STFM's updated and expanded Advocacy Course provides strategies for promoting the value of family medicine to lawmakers. The course now includes state and local advocacy, pre/post-course surveys, and social media best practices.

STFM is now accepting nominations for a position on the Steering Committee of the Conference on Practice and Quality Improvement. Committee members review conference submissions and plan the conference.

Using Telehealth for Clinical Teaching in Medical School During COVID-19 Times
Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, medical students are not allowed at clinical sites. Therefore, clerkship curricula in the United States must now be delivered online, while providing a similar experience. Faculty at the Geisel School of Medicine Family Medicine clerkship at Dartmouth College provided virtual curriculum, but wanted to find ways to involve students safely in direct patient care.

PIDS Announces New Vaccine Educational Resource
The Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society (PIDS) announced their new program, Vaccine Education from Training to Practice. The first module, Vaccine Fundamentals, is now available. STFM was one of the three partners involved in the CoVER education grant.

USMLE Suspends Step 2 Clinical Skills Examination
"After careful consideration of all factors, we have decided to suspend Step 2 CS test administrations for the next 12-18 months... We will be providing refunds for all of those who were unable to take Step 2 CS due to the suspension of testing and will work to expedite these refunds. Over the next few weeks, we will be announcing more detailed information on what this decision will mean for examinees, e.g., refunds, progression through education/training and medical licensure," said USMLE.
