Shocking news, the BBC has revealed that United Utilities have been illegally dumping sewage into Windermere for years.
|
|
Not only that, but they have been purposefully attempting to deceive us.
United Utilities insiders told the BBC:
"We would have been aware of the issue – it would have flagged up on flow and spill reports. I’m not surprised we haven’t reported it,"
"We work on a risk management basis and we’ll have judged the risk of the EA finding out and understanding the permit breach would be minimal as they are under-resourced and incompetent."
We. Are. Furious. 😡🤬🤬
But this greed and incompetence is what we've come to expect from our fundamentally broken water system and the profiteering polluters who run it.
We need change. Now.

|
Right now, our campaigns team are flat out making sure that the government doesn't just talk the talk on ending sewage pollution, but walks the walk too. We're pressuring them to deliver real lasting change in the Water (Special Measures) Bill, and the upcoming review of the whole broken sector. It's crunch time.
So, we know that you've already contacted your MP on this vital issue - thank you.
But did you know that, as a charity, all of our campaigns are only made possible by the vital contributions of our members. And that for as little as the cost of a cup of coffee a month, you too can help fuel our fight against the profiteering polluters and get our campaign to #EndSewagePollution over the line?
So, friend, will you join the SAS membership today?
