C4 Spotlight: Tim Anderson, MD, MAS

This issue’s C4 Center Spotlight features Dr. Tim Anderson. Dr. Anderson is a clinician-investigator and Assistant Professor of Medicine in the University of Pittsburgh Division of General Internal Medicine. His primary research interests include identifying strategies to improve the quality and equity of care delivered to older adults with chronic conditions, and optimizing prescribing decisions for patients while hospitalized, at home, and during transitions of care.

Dr. Anderson’s research utilizes retrospective data from administrative and pharmacy claims databases, national surveys, and electronic health records; mixed methods prospective cohort studies; and interventional trials targeting clinician and patient behavior. He currently is PI for several ongoing studies including an AHA funded study evaluating the impact of Medicare’s Transitional Care Management program on patient outcomes following cardiovascular hospitalizations; and an NIA funded study investigating why clinicians change older adults' maintenance medications during hospitalization and how these changes affect outcomes.
