PWI news - JanuaryHappy New Year! 2019 promises to be another exciting and busy year for the PWI. Welcome to our new section in Bengaluru in India On the 25th November at 1030am IST, the Bengaluru section of the PWI was launched. The launch of the section has been the culmination of months of hard work and was a great success. The event was held at the Country Inn hotel located within close proximity to one of the largest tech parks in the region that is the home of several large design consultancies and other global technology giants. The meeting was a significant success for all involved. Some delegates explained how they had previously been lucky to attend section meetings when visiting the UK and were surprised and happy to see a local section meeting to attend and participate in. There is a full write up in the January Journal which members will receive soon. S&C Maintenance. Revised version now availableSwitch and Crossing Maintenance draws together all aspects of this key feature of railway track engineering where plain line becomes junctions and allows the reader to understand the main types, components and layouts and the context of operational maintenance. The book is aimed at a wide range of people who need to know more about S&C; be they designers, maintainers or others involved in the infrastructure or operation of a railway network. The various configurations are covered which include the range of switches and common and obtuse crossings made up of built, welded and cast manganese derivatives. S&C designs are continuously changing and being improved but the basic principles remain the same. This book was written by experts in 2001 and revised in 2018. Young Achiever Award 2019Under 30?
