First designed in 1948 by celebrated designer Poul Cadovius, the Royal was one of the world’s first wall-hung furniture systems. At the time, the idea of furniture being on walls rather than just limited to the floor was novel and Poul Cadovius was leading the charge. As pragmatic as he was creative, he stated, “Most of us live on the bottom of a cube. If we put the walls even with the floor, we get a lot of space to live on!”
