For Many Women, Sex Doesn't Decline at Midlife

Think women have less sex as they age? Think again!

Scientists from the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Utah collected data from over 2,000 women between the ages of 28 and 84. They found that almost 60% of "romantically partnered" women over age 60 still had sex regularly.

What's more, women who were married or living with a partner were 8 times more likely to be sexually active than those who were not.

Age didn't factor into the women's sexual satisfaction, the researchers reported. But relationships and communication did.

Quit Smoking for Better Erections

There are lots of good reasons to quit smoking. And men can add better erections to that list.

Smoking tobacco releases chemicals that can damage blood vessels and interfere with the production of compounds that are important for erections.

Fortunately, quitting smoking might reverse some of the damage.  In our latest blog post, we discuss the connection between smoking and erectile dysfunction.  We also offer some tips to help you or your partner kick the habit!

Did You Know?

Consuming more caffeine could give men a sexual performance boost.

A recent study published in PLOS One found that men who took in 170-375 mg of caffeine each day had lower rates of erectile dysfunction (ED).

That's the equivalent of 2-3 cups of coffee. Caffeine is found in teas, sodas, and energy drinks, too.

More details on the study are available here.

But before men head down to their local coffee shop for a double espresso, they should see their doctor if they have trouble with erections.

ED can be a sign of an underlying health condition, like diabetes or heart disease. It's important to have a checkup when erection problems start.
