Fleas Fleas Fleas...Did you know that the fleas that live on your pet represent 5% of the total flea population, with the other 95% living in the environment, in various stages of development. Not the nicest of thoughts! Fleas are the most common external parasite of cats and dogs and their control is becoming a challenge for veterinarians and owners. The flea has evolved and is extremely resistant in the environment. Flea Life Cycle: Exciting New Technology! Our clinics have recently been fitted out with some brand new technology. Amberley is now home to an Idexx Laboratory system. This tool allows us to conduct a far wider range of blood tests, testing for common conditions, organ health, infection, anaemia, stress, hormones and many more. Previously we have sent these samples off to Christchurch for analysis so having our own machine will have speed up the diagnosis for your pet. Blood samples from our other clinics will also be tested through the Amberley machine, so all clinics will benefit from this. Our veterinary team is really excited about these tools and look forward to showing you how it can help. Also our Cheviot and Culverden clinics now have a new Agfa CR Xray system. This is a digital Xray machine, allowing much faster and crystal-clear diagnostics. Below is an Xray taken using our new machine, it shows a broken radius on a dog who was kicked by a cow.
