About the continuation of Butler… I get a lot of questions about whether I’m going to keep writing this series, and I’d really like to. I added a book for Linc and Molly (preorder LET IT BE, out on 12.24.20), and I'll be writing a book for Max Abbott. But after that? It depends on how these next three do. If readers indicate they're interested in the books and preorder the new ones, then I may write Izzy and Noah’s books, too. We shall see how these next three do! Fingers crossed. If you love this series, please preorder the new books to let me know you want MORE of the Abbotts and Colemans! Update on Fatal Fraud, Book 16 in the Fatal Series You know that story about best-laid plans and how they often go astray? Well, that's what happened when I scheduled a photoshoot for the new couple to represent the Fatal Series on the covers coming from my publishing company HTJB, Inc., since I have parted company with Harlequin, which published books 1-16. Then COVID-19 happened, and bringing together models to act like a madly in love married couple in a photoshoot just wasn't feasible. So what to do? I looked high and low for a series of existing images that was "close" to what I wanted for Sam and Nick and finally found something that works. Is it SPOT ON for them? Nope. Is it CLOSE ENOUGH under the circumstances? Absolutely. I assure you we're doing the very best we can under the conditions we're working with. I know some of you are going to say he's too young or his hair is all wrong or <fill in the blank> Just please know that all of that would've been taken into consideration if we had been able to do the photoshoot. Since we couldn't, we have to work with what's available. So here is the final cover of FATAL FRAUD and the couple that will be representing Sam and Nick for the next few books. I understand that some of you won't be happy with these models or the new covers, but I hope you will continue to focus on what's inside the cover rather than the models who are basically intended to "represent" fictional characters. :-) If you haven't preordered Fatal Fraud yet, you can find it at marieforce.com/fatalfraud. Thanks for your patience while I've been working behind the scenes to facilitate the transition between publishers. I'm still hoping to be able to move up the publication date on Fatal Fraud, but nothing to report on that just yet. I'll keep you posted! It wasn't the first one published (that was Line of Scrimmage in 2008), but it was the first time I ever wrote THE END. It was less than a year after my mother had died, and I was still reeling from that loss when I wrote the original version of Treading Water. I remember the feeling of that day, of having FINALLY done something I'd always wanted to do, and something my MOM wanted me to do. She's the one who made me—and my brother—into crazy readers. I remember May 18, 2005 like it was yesterday. My family and my dad took me to Salas's our favorite restaurant in Newport to celebrate. Salas's is gone now and so is my dad, but the memories of that day will stay with me forever. I was so, so excited to have written THE END on the book that I'd written in fits and starts over two years while holding down a full-time job and mothering two young kids. It was a miracle that book ever got written during that time in my life, but I've never forgotten the singular HIGH of writing THE END for the first time. The book was massively overwritten at 155,000 words, but I didn't know that yet. I made all the big mistakes on that book, and learned all the big lessons. By the time I self-published Treading Water and its two sequels, Marking Time and Starting Over, in 2011, it was a leaner, meaner 92,000 words that told the exact same story as the overwritten tome. In 2012, I wrote Coming Home when the readers wanted more of a story started in Marking Time. Earlier this year, I published Finding Forever, the fifth and final book in the Treading Water Series, another book requested by readers. On this day 15 years ago, I couldn't have imagined what I was starting with that book or the incredible journey Jack and I would take together. Thank you to everyone who has been part of it, especially Julie Cupp, who read Treading Water as I was writing it and is now my right hand. It's been a wild, wonderful, thrilling ride! xoxo Have you read the Treading Water Series? If not, check it out at marieforce.com/treadingwater. Follow me on BookBub and Book + Main. |
