Cultural Awareness 25 May

Debra Hocking, a descendant of the Mouheneener people and a survivor of the Stolen Generation, takes students on a journey through her personal experiences to inform a discussion on cultural awareness. Through a series of exercises and hypothetical scenarios the course is designed to make you more informed, understanding and culturally aware.

Camera Essentials 2 June

Camera Essentials is the perfect introduction to camera operating and cinematography techniques. In this hands-on practical course, participants learn High Definition camera operating and lighting skills. Topics covered include framing, exposure, white balance as well as handling techniques, lighting set-up and layout and an overview of shooting formats.

Final Cut Pro Fundamentals 3 – 17 June

Participants learn the fundamentals of editing techniques using Final Cut Pro 7, one of the world’s most popular and widely used professional editing software. Topics covered include basic set-up, preferences, capturing video and audio, editing and cutting techniques, audio editing, finishing, and exporting video.

Multiplatform Techniques 12 June – 17 July

Multiplatform content is a rapidly growing and increasingly important storytelling medium.  The demand for quality content on mobile devices is at an all time high and shows no signs of slowing.  This course will teach you the basics of this exciting and creative new way of storytelling in an increasingly digital age, this includes: what is multiplatform (or transmedia)?; pitching your project; business models; marketing and funding opportunities.

Liv is having its World Premiere at Palm Springs International ShortFest in June. Metro Screen Alumni Pauline Findlay and Tracey Savage developed the idea of Red Dot which became Liv and gained a Metro Screen Network Production grant in 2009.
