Make Time for Sex Conversations, Experts Suggest

When children and teens develop medical conditions that might affect their sexuality or fertility, it can be hard to know how to discuss their situation. Should parents wait until children are older? How will children handle the news? 

A recent report in the journal Pediatrics provides doctors and parental figures with guidance. 

The authors recommend making plenty of time for these conversations and acknowledging that the uncertainty is stressful. Families might consider talking to others who have gone through similar experiences.

Sex and the Placebo Effect

Some treatments for women's sexual dysfunction are "minimally superior to placebo," according to new research.

Scientists analyzed 8 medical studies involving almost 4,000 women who were being treated for a sexual problem.

For about two-thirds of the women, results might be explained by a placebo effect, the authors said.
