 "Cable rights" for the artists, what's the situation now?

Since 2015, actors and musicians are entitled to a remuneration for cable retransmission.

Since 2015, actors and musicians have the right to be remunerated for cable retransmission. In 2018, a new law was adopted that stipulates that this right to remuneration also applies in the case of the direct injection. Now, one year later, what about these "cable rights" and when will they be paid out to the performing artists?

Launch of the unique platform UNISONO

January 1st, 2020 marks the operational launch of UNISONO, the unique platform for copyrights & neighbouring rights in Belgium. This platform is a result of a collaboration between SABAM, PlayRight and SIMIM to collect copyrights and neighbouring rights (via the equitable remuneration) for the use of live and recorded music. UNISONO must simplify the procedures for users and, at the same time, ensure greater transparency.
