Most Men Satisfied With Penile Implants

Penile implant surgery is usually a last resort treatment for men with erectile dysfunction (ED).  It's natural for men and their partners to feel anxious about it. Will the surgery go smoothly? What will recovery be like? Will the implant work as it should? Will sex feel the same?

Fortunately, implants have a high satisfaction rate. A recent study found that 79% of men surveyed said they were "fairly" or "very" satisfied with their implant.

But there are still some valid concerns. In our latest blog post, discuss 3-piece inflatable implants, the most common devices used nowadays. We also go over some of the reasons men like their implants as well as reasons they might be dissatisfied with them

Earlier Intercourse Might Lead to Higher STI Rates

The earlier adolescents have sex, the more likely they are to have had a sexually-transmitted infection (STI), according to a new report.

The study involved over 22,000 South Korean adolescents who had had intercourse in the past.

In that group, the chances of having experienced an STI where higher among those who had their first intercourse earlier.

The period of time between puberty and first intercourse was also important. Those who had sex soon after puberty were at higher risk than those who waited longer.

Opioid Use May Be Linked to Low Testosterone

New research suggests that men and women who use opioids are more likely to have low levels of testosterone.

Opioids are prescription painkillers, like hydrocodone, oxycodone, morphine, and codeine.

The study, published last summer in the journal Pain Medicine, found that this connection was more likely for people over age 70 and those who had other medical conditions, including cancer, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and arthritis.
